Activity 1: Detective Turner needs you to write a list of questions that his officers can use when they interview witnesses.  Write your questions in the Questions sections in the table below. Do not fill in the answers yet! The first one has been done for you.

Remember – the information will then be entered into a database so the questions cannot have answers that are too long!

Question 1: Where were you at the time of the murder?

Answer: In the playground.

Question 2: what where you doing in the playground?

Answer: Playing on the swings

Question 3: Who were you with when the murder took place?

Answer: My little brother

Question 4: What time was it when you were in the playground?

Answer: 9  O’clock

Question 5: What did you hear when you were at the playground?

Answer:  A man riding a bike

Activity 2: Now find a partner, and ask them your questions. Write the answers in the boxes below the questions in the table above.

 

Activity 3: Now reword your questions so that you get more useful answers. For example, does the answer to Question 1 enough information for the police? Can you reword Question 1 so that you get more specific or accurate information from the witness?
